“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” —James 5:13-15
The Sacrament of the Sick is administered by a priest and is intended to strengthen and comfort those who are suffering serious illness, the elderly and frail, or those near the time of death. This is a beautiful sacrament which can help the ill person to experience peace in the mercy of God.
If you or someone in your family is sick or in hospital and would like to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, please call the parish to arrange a time. If the matter is urgent, call the parish office number. Should no one answer, please listen to the office voicemail for the emergency number.
Please remember that the hospital does not notify the parish when Catholics are seriously ill. We rely on friends and family to make the call.
